The motorcycle course is increasingly popular in Dubai and prepares students for RTA driving test to get Dubai driving license category 1. Students who complete this course and pass RTA tests are licensed to drive either manual or automatic transmission motorcycles. Minimum age requirement for motorcycle driving license course is 17 years.

This course also teaches turning and cornering at high speeds such as curves on highways and winding roads, especially when the curve is tighter than anticipated, tackling sharp turns from stoplights or stop signs, pulling out of parking spaces or driveways or onto a narrow street.

Important Information

  • Students who do not possess previous motorcycle riding license are considered as a Beginner and thus have to register for 15 hours of training.
  • Students holding a valid & original motorcycle riding license from other-country are eligible for 8 hours of training.
  • People having nationality and riding license for the listed 41 countries can directly transfer their license by walking into any RTA office with the necessary documentation and fee.
  • People who have any traffic fine in their name will not be able to open a file until the fine is cleared. 
  • Students must wear safety shoes, full-length sleeves shirt / T-Shirts and full-length trousers whenever riding.

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

  1. Original Emirates ID
    Please note: Visa copy may be required if the designation mentioned in the Emirates ID is not the same as in the stamped visa. Emirates / FlyDubai cabin crew must provide visa copy if the profession is different in Emirates ID.
  2. The eye test must be completed before the RTA file opening. It can be done at any of EDI’s main centers (Al Qusais/Al Quoz) or at any RTA authorized optical centers in Dubai.
  3. A valid visa issued in Dubai 
  4. Valid & original driving license issued from other country of the same category (if any):
    The license must be attested from the country embassy/consulate & legally translated only from Dubai (if not printed in English or Arabic).

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS FOR:
Female customers (less than 21 years) wanting to take training by the male instructor:

  1. Copy of RTA learning permit
  2. No Objection letter signed by the sponsor (father/husband). For UAE nationals/company visa holders, No Objection letter to be signed by self.
  3. Copy of Emirates ID

Driver visa holders (excluding Taxi Company):

  1. Medical fitness report from the RTA approved medical center/hospitals.

File transfer from other institutes in Dubai/Emirates:

  1. Original RTA file from the previous school/institute (if registered before April 2017)
  2. No Objection letter /status report from previous school/institute.
  3. Theory lectures details (if attended)
  4. Valid /invalid learning permit (not applicable to other Emirates)
  5. Training Sheet (if practical training has been taken)

Customer holding partner visa:

  1. Copy of valid trade license.

UAE Marsom / Bedouin:

  1. Valid and original marsom letter
  2. Eye test report
  3. Valid and original passport 

FILE OPENING PROCESS FOR OTHER-EMIRATES
Mandatory documents required for applicants

  1. On personal or family-sponsored visa currently residing in Dubai:
    • Valid passport copy & visa copy of the sponsor & applicant
    • Original and valid Emirates ID
    • Valid tenancy contract (Ejari) & electricity bill from DEWA*
    • Eye test report (After approval)
    • Declaration letter from the school or university (if the applicant is a student in Dubai)
    • NOC for professional help (e.g. housemaid, nanny, driver)
      *not required in case the declaration letter is available
       
  2. On a company-sponsored visa:
    • Situation 1: Company has a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
      1.  Valid passport copy & visa copy of the applicant
      2. Original and valid Emirates ID
      3.  Copy of valid trade license of the Dubai branch of the company. The company name must match the name on the trade license.
      4. NOC to clearly mention that the applicant is working in the Dubai branch of the company.
      5. Eye test (After approval)
         
    • Situation 2: Company does not have a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
      (e.g. Applicants on investor or partner visa from other-emirates do not have a branch & currently residing in Dubai)

Shift Course

These students can choose to take their training as per their choice during training hours* by coordinating with their instructor or the course in-charge in the following way

Students can take their training only on Friday

Gold Course

Students can take their training on any day except Friday at any time as per their preference. They are eligible for 2 hours of training. Motorcycle Training can be taken from EDI Head Office in Al Qusais and Al Quoz.

Training Timings 
•    The training timings are from 8:25am to 5:25 pm except 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
•    We also have training classes on Friday from 07:00am to 11:40am and 2:00pm to 4:00pm with breaks in between the classes.
•    There are training timings available for Shift duty and students starting at 8:30am and the other classes can be scheduled as per their preferences.
•    All motorcycles are provided by the institute.

 

Training Rules & Regulations:

  • Always carry your Emirates ID, and RTA learning permit while attending the practical training, lectures, and tests.
     
  • Please arrive 10 mins earlier than your practical training and tests.
     
  • Should you fail to report within 10 minutes of your class, you’ll be marked as “ABSENT' and compensatory training will apply by paying for the absent class.
     
  • Should you wish to temporarily stop your training, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees. Please by a call on 04 2631100 or email at [email protected]
     
  • Should you wish to stop the classes due to health issues, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees.   • In case your instructor is absent, we will arrange a replacement instructor & should we fail to provide another instructor, your training will be extended accordingly.
     
  • EDI will not provide motorcycle gears to the stuents following the safety precautions during COVID-19.
     
  • Students must purchase and carry their personal motorcycle gears (helmet, knee pad, elbow and knee guard & safety jacket).

Students who register for the Motorcycle driving license course must attend 8 theory lectures available on weekdays and Fridays. Lectures can be attended online (e-lectures) in English, Urdu or Arabic or at the main centers in Al Qusais or Al Quoz centers.

RTA's Remote Interpretation System (RIS)

The service provides a remote instant interpretation of driving theoretical tests, conducted by RTA, to driver license applicants in different languages. The step is part of RTA's endeavors to enrich the Smart City initiative and realize its third strategic goal - People's Happiness

How to avail the RIS service?

As per RTA guidelines, students have to submit an application for appointing an interpreter in the preferred language at the time of opening RTA file and pay the applicable fees. This service cannot be added at a later stage while booking the Road Test.

Fees: An additional fee of AED 400 applies besides the RTA Theory test fees.

Remember to:

  • Obtain your RTA learners permit prior to your first driving lesson and carry it with you throughout the training period. Renew the permit once it expires.
  • Attend your first and all subsequent driving classes and tests with necessary lenses/ glasses.
  • Not be absent from classes without informing the concerned reception staff 48 hours before the class time or you will be charged for the classes.
  • Clear outstanding dues of any pending training and tests to avoid delays.

  • We highly recommend planning the LLST / MLST test as soon as you receive your training schedule and the training starts
  • The test can be only booked by the instructor when he approves you are prepared to appear for the test
  • The test can be attended from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday at the main centers (Al Qusais or Al Quoz)
Test 3: Initial Driver Assessment Test EDI EDI call center and main centers
  • The test can be attended at the main center Al Qusais or Al Quoz.
  • Please arrive 30 mins earlier than the test time at the respective training center
Test 4: RTA Road test RTA EDI main centers (Test Department)
  • The test can be attended from 7:30 am to 3:25 pm;  Sunday to Thursday
  • Extra charge applies for attending the test on Saturday.
  • Please arrive 30 mins earlier than the test time at the respective training center.
