The motorcycle course is increasingly popular in Dubai and prepares students for RTA driving test to get Dubai riding license category 1. Students completing this course are licensed to ride motorcycles in the UAE. Minimum age requirement for motorcycle driving license course is 17 years.
This course teaches basic elements of riding such as turning and cornering at high speeds such as curves on highways and winding roads, especially when the curve is tighter than anticipated, tackling sharp turns from stoplights or stop signs, reversing from parking spaces, driveways or on a narrow street.

Direct test course: Customers holding an original license from any GCC (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia), European, North American, East Asia & African countries (as listed by RTA) are eligible to register for Direct Test course for car and motorcycle categories. The customers can take optional practical training before appearing for the road test; fee applicable as per current rates.
Incase of any test failure, below process applies:
- Failure of RTA theory test: Attend 8 theory lectures by online Student Portal or classroom lectures.
- Failure of RTA road test: Book and attend 4 hours of practical training.
Only for Singapore drivers license: [Valid only in EDI main centers]
Singapore nationals holding a valid and original driving license issued from Singapore are eligible to directly convert their driving license into a UAE driving license. The below process applies:
- Admission: RTA file opening and EDI registration
- Eye test: Can be done in EDI main centers or RTA approved optical shops in Dubai
- RTA Theory Test: The student must pass the RTA Theory Test to receive the UAE driving license.
Important Information
- Customers who do not possess previous motorcycle riding license are considered as a Beginner and thus have to register for 20 hours of training.
- Customers holding a valid & original motorcycle riding license from other-country are eligible for 10 hours of training.
- Customers holding their riding license from the RTA exception countries can directly transfer their license at any RTA office with the necessary documentation and fee.
- Students must wear safety shoes, full-length sleeves shirt / T-Shirts and full-length trousers whenever riding.
For your safety, please make sure that you attend the training wearing the right safety equipment:
MANDATORY DOCUMENTS
- Original Emirates ID
- A copy of valid visa issued in Dubai
- Eye test report (before RTA file opening). The eye test is available at the EDI main centers or RTA-approved eye test centers in Dubai.
- Original riding license issued from other countries of the same vehicle category (if any)*:
- The hologram on the driving license must be visible.
- A valid and expired (less than ten years of expiry) riding licenses are acceptable.
- If your riding license is not issued in English or Arabic, please legally translate your riding license from a legal translation typing office in Dubai.
- For a lost riding license, please seek a letter from the consulate of your country.
*Subject to RTA approval. If the riding license is denied by the RTA, please seek a letter from the embassy of your country.

Female customers (younger than 21 years) who wish to take training by a male instructor:
- A no-objection letter signed by the sponsor
- A no-objection letter to be signed by self (only for UAE nationals or company visa holders)
- Copy of the sponsor's Emirates ID
Customers holding Partner visa:
- Copy of a valid UAE trade license
UAE Marsoom / Bedouin:
- Valid and original marsoom letter
- Valid and original passport
- One passport size photograph
- Eye test report
People of Determination:
- An original medical report issued from Rashid Hospital (maximum of two years validity)
- Sanad Card from Community Development Authority (optional)
Pregnant women:
- A no-objection letter signed by the sponsor
- 'Fit to Drive' certificate issued by the consulting doctor.
File transfer from other institutes within Dubai or other-emirates:
- Original RTA file from the previous driving institute or driving schools.
- Clearance letter from the previous driving institute or driving schools signed and stamped by an authorized signatory.
- Proof of theory lectures attendance
- Valid or invalid RTA learning permit (not applicable for other-emirates)
- Training Sheet (if practical training is completed)
Driver visa holders (excluding Taxi Company):
- Medical fitness report from the RTA approved medical centers or hospitals.
FILE OPENING PROCESS FOR OTHER-EMIRATES
Mandatory documents required for applicants
- On personal or family-sponsored visa currently residing in Dubai:
- Valid passport copy & visa copy of the sponsor & applicant
- Original and valid Emirates ID
- Valid tenancy contract (Ejari) & electricity bill from DEWA*
- Eye test report (After approval)
- Declaration letter from the school or university (if the applicant is a student in Dubai)
- NOC for professional help (e.g. housemaid, nanny, driver)
*not required in case the declaration letter is available
- On a company-sponsored visa:
- Situation 1: Company has a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
- Valid passport copy & visa copy of the applicant
- Original and valid Emirates ID
- Copy of valid trade license of the Dubai branch of the company. The company name must match the name on the trade license.
- NOC to clearly mention that the applicant is working in the Dubai branch of the company.
- Eye test (After approval)
- Situation 2: Company does not have a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
(e.g. Applicants on investor or partner visa from other-emirates do not have a branch & currently residing in Dubai)- Valid passport copy & visa copy of the sponsor & applicant
- Original and valid Emirates ID
- Valid tenancy contract (Ejari) & electricity bill from DEWA
- Eye test report (After approval)
- NOC issued by the company from other emirates if they do not have any branch in Dubai

The below process applies to acquire a UAE driving license for Singapore citizens:

Students can choose to take their training as per their choice during training hours* by coordinating with their instructor or the course in-charge in the following way

Weekend Course:
Students can take their training only on Saturday or Sunday or a combination of Saturday & Sunday.
Training Rules & Regulations:
- Always carry your Emirates ID, and RTA learning permit while attending the practical training, lectures, and tests.
- Please arrive 10 mins earlier than your practical training and tests.
- Should you fail to report within 10 minutes of your class, you’ll be marked as “ABSENT' and compensatory training will apply by paying for the absent class.
- Should you wish to temporarily stop your training, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees. Please by a call on 04 2631100 or email at [email protected].
- Should you wish to stop the classes due to health issues, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees. It is mandatory to submit a DHA attested medical certificate as proof of absenteeism. Please inform us by a call on 04 2631100 or email at [email protected].
- In case your instructor is absent, we will arrange a replacement instructor & should we fail to provide another instructor, your training will be extended accordingly.
- Students must purchase and carry their personal motorcycle gears (helmet, knee pad, elbow and knee guard & safety jacket) at all times.
For your safety, please make sure that you attend the training wearing the right safety equipment:
Students who register for the Motorcycle riding license course must attend 8 theory lectures available on weekdays and Saturdays. Lectures can be attended online in English, Urdu or Arabic or at the main centers in Al Qusais or Al Quoz centers.
NOTE: The students must bring the Emirates ID & RTA Learning Permit to attend the lectures.

RTA's Remote Interpretation System (RIS)
The service provides a remote instant interpretation of driving theoretical tests, conducted by RTA, to driver license applicants in different languages. The step is part of RTA's endeavors to enrich the Smart City initiative and realize its third strategic goal - People's Happiness
How to avail the RIS service?
As per RTA guidelines, students have to submit an application for appointing an interpreter in the preferred language at the time of opening RTA file and pay the applicable fees. This service cannot be added at a later stage while booking the Road Test.
Fees: An additional fee of AED 400 is applicable besides the RTA Theory test fees.
Remember to:
- Obtain your RTA learners permit prior to your first driving lesson and carry it with you throughout the training period. Renew the permit once it expires.
- Attend your first and all subsequent driving classes and tests with necessary lenses/ glasses.
- Not be absent from classes without informing the concerned reception staff 48 hours before the class time or you will be charged for the classes.
- Clear outstanding dues of any pending training and tests to avoid delays.
