With the announcement of the UAE Golden Residency visa in 2021, Emirates Driving Institute extends gratitude to the Golden Visa holders by providing fast-track driving courses for those holding no driver's license or holding previous drivers' licenses. 

 

Direct Test Course (Golden Visa):

Direct Test Course is recommended for experienced drivers holding Golden Visa and a valid driving license.

 

Beginner Training Course (Golden Visa):

Beginner training is recommended for customers holding Golden Visa and no driving experience. Below are the options of training courses:

  1. Regular Driving Course
  2. Night Driving Course
  3. Weekend Driving Course (only Saturday or Saturday and Sunday)
  4. Shift Driving Course (flexible)
  5. Gold Excellence Driving Course (VIP) 
  6. Platinum Driving Course (VIP) 

 

  1. Original Emirates ID 
  2. Copy of UAE Golden residency visa  
  3. The eye test must be completed before the RTA file opening at any of EDI’s main centers (Al Qusais or Al Quoz) or at RTA authorized optical centers in Dubai.
  4. Valid original or lost previous driving license issued from other country of the same vehicle category (for Direct Test only):
    1. In case your driving license is not in English or Arabic, please legally translate your driving license only from Dubai.

  • Directly attend the RTA theory test and RTA road test. Optional training can be attended before the first RTA road test (Per hour training fees will apply)
     
  • Incase of:
    • RTA Theory test failure: 
      Attend theory lectures (online or classroom) and book the next theory test. (Theory lecture fee included. RTA Theory test fee of AED 490 will apply)
       
    • RTA Road test failure:
      Book and attend mandatory 4 hours of training for AED 546* and book the next RTA road test for AED 490. (training extension fee applies).

Students registering for the 20 of training or upon RTA theory test failure in Direct Test Course must attend 8 theory lectures; online in English, Urdu or Arabic or in classroom lectures at the main EDI centers

RTA's Remote Interpretation System (RIS)
The service provides a remote instant interpretation of driving theoretical tests, conducted by RTA, to driver license applicants for as many as 195 different languages. The step is part of RTA's endeavors to enrich the Smart City initiative and realize its third strategic goal - People's Happiness

How to use the RIS service?

  • As per RTA guidelines, students have to submit an application for appointing an interpreter in the preferred language at the time of opening the RTA file and pay the applicable fees.
  • This service cannot be added at a later stage while booking the road test.

Fees:  An additional fee of AED 435 will be applied

How to book?

Important information

Test 1: Knowledge test by RTA
  • EDI call center at 04 2631100
  • Test department staff at the main EDI centers
  • The test can be booked from 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM; Saturday to Thursday.
     
  • The test can be attended only at the main centers (Al Qusais or Al Qouz).
     
  • The test center will be based on the training location chosen while registration.

Test 2: Initial Driving Assessment test by EDI

Test 3: Smart Yard Assessment test by EDI 

Test 4: Smart Yard Parking test by RTA

Test 5: Road test by RTA
  • Book through the smart screen at EDI main centers
  • The test can be attended from 7:30 am to 3:25 pm;  Sunday to Thursday
     
  • Extra fee applies for an early test date and for attending the test on a weekend (Friday or Saturday).
     
  • The test can be attended only at the main centers (Al Qusais or Al Qouz).  

Please ensure to carry your Emirates ID, RTA learning permit and a male permit**at all times. 

**If a female student below 21 years wishes to be trained a male instructor, a male permit must be obtained for AED 10.
