REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

1. Original Emirates ID
2. Original driving license* issued from other countries of the same vehicle category (if any) to determine 20/15/10 hours course.

*Note: The hologram on the driving license must be visible. If the driving license is not in English or Arabic, please legally translate your driving license from a legal translation typing office in Dubai. Letter from the consulate of your country in case this license is lost will be accepted.

3. Electronic Eye test- This eye test service is available at the Institute’s main centers or RTA-approved eye test centers in Dubai.

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (Case wise) FOR:

1. Female customers (younger than 21 years) who wish to take training by a male instructor:

A no-objection letter signed by the sponsor 

2. Driver visa holders under any category require:

Medical fitness report from the RTA-approved medical centers or hospitals.

For residents with visas issued in the other emirates, one of the following

1. Copy of the tenancy agreement approved by ejari or copy of the Title Deed as a proof of residence
2. Copy of the company's trade licence (Dubai branch and the branch that issued the residency)
3. Letter from the company certifying that the customer works in Dubai
4. An official document proving that you are currently a student in Dubai.

For diplomats

1. Copy of the diplomatic passport
2. Original Emirates ID, if any
3. A copy of the valid diplomatic card for embassies, consulates and international organisations instead of the Emirates ID
4. A copy of a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission.

For People of Determination

1. Copy of the certificate of transfer to the doctor issued by the Licensing Agency

Note: The customer should refer to Rashid Hospital for the medical test.

2. Sanad Card from Community Development Authority or People of Determination card.

For the Emirati passport holder who is without a family book (Marsoom holders)

1. Copy of the valid passport
2. Copy of the valid Marsoom

For the Emirati passport holder who is the son of an Emirati woman

1. Copy of the valid passport
2. Valid letter from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs stating that the customer's mother is Emirati

For golden residency holders who have a driver licence from their countries

1. A copy of the customer previous valid driving license
2. Knowledge test and Road test results.

Flying crew course

Incase of any test failure, below process applies:

• Failure of RTA theory test: Attend 8 theory lectures. Available online Student Portal or classroom lectures.
• Failure of RTA road test: Book and attend 4 hours of practical training. 

Convert UAE drivers license from automatic to manual gear

Customers can take optional practical training before the road test. The training fee is applicable as per current rates

Customers holding a valid and original Dubai car driving license can convert from automatic gear to manual gear. If a customer has a car driving license from another emirate, the license will have to be transferred to Dubai. The below process applies:

• RTA Road Test appointment: Book a test appointment and attend the RTA road test at the main center. If failed, please pay and book a new road test appointment.
• Upon passing, a UAE manual driving license will be issued.
• Optional manual gear training lessons: Student can book and attend minimum 1 hour of training lessons. Rates apply as per course selected.

Direct test course - Only Singapore drivers license

Valid only at the EDI main centers

Singapore nationals holding a valid and original driving license issued from Singapore are eligible to directly convert their driving license into a UAE driving license.

The below process applies to acquire a UAE driving license for Singapore citizens:

• Admission process: Includes RTA file opening and EDI registration
• Eye test: Can be done in EDI main centers or RTA approved optical shops in Dubai
• RTA Theory Test: Attend the RTA Theory Test to receive the UAE driving license.

Please note:

• Students can opt to register for either Automatic or Manual gear. However, please note that Automatic license holders are not allowed to drive a Manual gear vehicle.
• Simulator Training: All students registered for 20 hours sessions will have to attend 1 session of Simulator prior to starting their practical training.
• Solo Training: This is mandatory for 20 hours sessions course and is optional for 15/10 hour session.
• Those who have a valid UAE Driving license from any Emirate other than Dubai need to get their driving file transferred from the other-emirate to Dubai RTA before opening a file for any other vehicle category.
• In case a student incurs a UAE traffic fine, they will not be eligible to enroll unless the fine is paid.
• Those who have opened any driving file before with other institutes should transfer their file. For more information please call 04-2631100.

Training Rules & Regulations:

• Always carry your Emirates ID, and RTA learning permit while attending the practical training, lectures, and tests.
   
• Please arrive 10 mins earlier than your practical training and tests.
   
• Should you fail to report within 10 minutes of your class, you’ll be marked as “ABSENT' and compensatory training will apply by paying for the absent class.
   
• Should you wish to temporarily stop your training, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees. Please by a call on 04 2631100 or email at [email protected].
   
• Should you wish to stop the classes due to health issues, please inform us 48 hours in advance of your scheduled training to avoid absent fees. It is mandatory to submit a DHA attested medical certificate as proof of absenteeism. Please inform us by a call on 04 2631100 or email at [email protected].
   
• In case your instructor is absent, we will arrange a replacement instructor & should we fail to provide another instructor, your training will be extended accordingly.

All students who register for 20/15/10 hours must attend 8 theory lectures available on weekdays and Fridays. Lectures can be attended online lectures in English, Urdu or Arabic or at the main centers in Al Qusais and Al Quoz centers.

RTA's Remote Interpretation System (RIS)

The service provides a remote instant interpretation of driving theoretical tests, conducted by RTA, to driver license applicants for as many as 195 different languages. The step is part of RTA's endeavors to enrich the Smart City initiative and realize its third strategic goal - People's Happiness

How to use the RIS service?

• As per RTA guidelines, students have to submit an application for appointing an interpreter in the preferred language at the time of opening the RTA file and pay the applicable fees.
• This service cannot be added at a later stage while booking the Road Test.

Fees:  An additional fee of AED 435 will be charged for availing this service apart from the regular exam fee of AED 293.50

Remember to:

• Obtain your RTA learner's permit prior to your first driving lesson and carry it with you throughout the training period. Renew the permit once it expires.
• Attend your first and all subsequent driving classes and tests with necessary lenses/ glasses.
• Not be absent from classes without informing the concerned reception staff 48 hours before class time or you will be charged for the classes.
• Clear outstanding dues to avoid delays in training or tests.

Please ensure to carry your Emirates ID, RTA learning permit and a male permit**at all times. 

**If a female student below 21 years wishes to be trained a male instructor, a male permit must be obtained for AED 10.
