Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) celebrates 25 years of successfully leading learner driver training and driver road risk reduction in the UAE and the greater GCC region. It has been in operation since 1991 and is the largest and most successful driving institute in Dubai and the Middle East. It is a part of the renowned Belhasa Group. EDI provides driving license training courses using its fleet of over 1000 vehicles in different vehicle categories like Car, Heavy Bus, Light Bus, Heavy Truck, Shovel, Forklift and Motor Cycles. Around 500,000 students have acquired their UAE driving license from EDI since its inception. EDI has over 1000 qualified male and female Instructors of different nationalities who can instruct the students in their native language making it easier for them to take their license training.
The driver training standards are set at International levels and the driving tuition methods are continuously updated to make use of the latest driving techniques. EDI's International partners, The Institute of The Motor Industry of The UK (IMI), The International Association for Driver Education and The Institute of Advanced Motorist-UK (IAM) play a major role to ensure constant update and adaptation to leading edge driving & testing standards.
EDI's training methodology has been accredited by AA Driving School, UK. It has recently been awarded the certification of being an affiliate of the AA Driving School. Emirates Driving Institute has trained its driving instructors and technical training staff according to the syllabus administered by Automobile Association Developments Limited of the United Kingdom.
Emirates Driving Institute also offers advanced 'Post License Training Courses' such as Defensive Driving, Desert Driving, Expat orientation and Refresher Courses to delegates with valid UAE driving License.
The institute began with a single training Centre located in Al Qusais and today has grown to establish 2 more full-fledged training & testing centers in Port Rashid & Al Quoz, over 54 branch offices and is continuing to drive its expansion across the emirate.
This rapid growth is attributed to EDI’s innovative and qualitative approach to driver training that has resulted in EDI achieving the highest student pass rate in the country.
Emirates Driving Institute received the ‘Best Driving School-2012’ & ‘Best Driving School-2013’award from RTA for two consecutive years. It also received the 'Best Service Provider' award from RTA for the year 2014. The awards cover all elements of EDI’s organisation and service-delivery levels and particularly endorse the quality of EDI's integrated teaching systems for their customers.
One of the major path breaking initiatives of EDI is the first Disabled Driver Training Course in Dubai for people who are unable to drive using foot pedals. This training course is delivered using hand controlled adapted vehicles. In 2009, EDI won the Dubai Award for Sustained Transport in the Special Needs Category for introduction and implementation of this course for people with below waist disabilities.
EDI became OHSAS 18001:1999 certified in the year 2006 and it is the first driving school in the world to get the ISO accreditation since 1997. In the year 2002, EDI won the Dubai Quality Award in the Professional Services Sector which was presented by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Defense.
Being a service provider, EDI has laid great emphasis on customer service standards by establishing branches all over Dubai for the convenience of students. The institute also has an in-house ‘Call Center’ which provides information about driving courses, training schedules and addresses any queries that students may have. This service is supported by EDI's interactive website with live chat option; online registration facility with payment gateway and all the information a customer might need about driving courses and other useful information.
EDI's sprawling premise has some of the best and unmatched facilities. These include Reception and Registration areas, two cafeterias, lecture theatres, simulator training, safety hall, comfortable waiting rooms, Instructor Training Centre and an area of 510,500 sq.ft for students to practice parking, hill starts and other elements of vehicle control before venturing on to public roads.
The Institute also houses a separate section specially dedicated to ladies and provides professional lady instructors who work with female students right through the training course.
For students with children, EDI has a cheerful play area with professional supervisors who take care of the children while their parents attend classes.
The presence of the local traffic authorities within the EDI premises fastens the entire process of acquiring learner’s permit as well as driving license for students.
Transportation for students is arranged by a fleet of air-conditioned mini buses that pick up and drop off students from their residence or work place throughout the emirate and beyond.
EDI offers a unique opportunity to drive in the only ‘Solo Training Yard’ in Dubai; a safe area where students can drive unaccompanied and gain confidence in their own skills. The student is being carefully monitored at all times by supervising trainers who if required can safely halt the vehicle remotely.
The quality and professionalism of all EDI driving instructors is consistently maintained and further developed through an in-house ‘Instructor Training Centre’ that keeps instructors updated with the latest information and training techniques within the international driving fraternity.
At EDI it is believed that in the pursuit of quality and excellence there is no finish line.
